x = unstressed syllable
X = stressed syllable (can be secondary stress)
| = foot boundary
X's without a space between them indicate syllables within the same word; a space indicates a separate word, unless a foot boundary intervenes.
Parentheses around X's indicate extrametricality, i.e. syllables which are in the text and are counted as licenses of the meter; square brackets indicate either postulated parts of lines not in the recording or extra beats between verses not counted as part of the meter or text.
Words between equals signs were either mistakes (e.g. two different words were sung simultaneously) or unclear from the recording.
A plus sign indicates the boundary of an extra foot that was inserted in performance, usually in order to keep time.
L = strong left step
l = weak left follows
R = strong right step
r = weak right follows
- = position with no step
The colon indicates a boundary between strong positions in the music and dance which, I propose, are not foot boundaries in the meter.
